Congressman Jason Chaffetz describes the Department of State as acting ‘dreadfully slow’ in handing over tens of thousands of documents to the committee
Congressman Jason Chaffetz, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, slammed the State Department on Wednesday for withholding vital information over Hillary Clinton’s private email scandal, and confirmed the former Presidential nominee was still under investigation.
“We need to understand the gravity of this. There is a reason the State Department, years after, is still holding off on giving us documents,” Chaffetz told Fox News. “The more they want to hold them, the more curious we are on what’s in them.”
Chaffetz vowed that his committee would investigate the scandal from ‘top to bottom’, including why then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton had a secret meeting on an airport tarmac at the height of the FBI’s investigation in to Hillary’s private server.
The committee chairman believes that upwards of 300 individuals at the State Department have mishandled classified information.
“It’s hard to believe nobody is even going to get a slap on the hand — somebody, people need to be held accountable,” he said. source
