It’s being applauded by audiences that have seen it in previews as containing some of the most exciting football action ever presented on the big screen. But WOODLAWN’s true power is about more than just the action on the field.
“Any filmmaker who’s ever done a sports movie will tell you that it’s not about the sport,” explains Sean Astin, who plays the pivotal role of Woodlawn High School’s sports chaplain in this real-life story of spiritual revival in 1970s Alabama. “FIELD OF DREAMS isn’t about baseball. RUDY isn’t about college football. These are stories about human beings and their experience.”
Adds Caleb Castille, who makes his film debut as Woodlawn High’s star running back Tony Nathan: “It’s not a football movie. It’s about hope. And in this particular story, they find their hope in Jesus Christ.”
